Geezer, what are you talking about? The money being hemorraged from us will never allow us to re-build our house. And we do not have insurance.

amen! SEIU was supposed to be our insurance!

Didn't work out to well when the chips are down did it??

I keep hearing about these great Public Service Unions tearing apart our State/Country depending on the time of day. Because they won't give up pay of pensions.

Where are they and how do I sign up!?!?!?

Today I walked into my 16 story building very happy and proud of my union and our staff, especially our staff attorneys. I recall here people saying they were low quality, we had poor help, and low paid attorneys vs. the big dollar contracted governor's attorneys. But I was in bargaining and got to listen to and talk to them, and see them, and what we and they have is passion, and that is something they cannot buy.

State workers are low paid, compared to the fat cat consultants and personal service contracted workers, who get paid 2 to 6 times as much, but we have a sense of duty to the public we serve, a kind of passion the money grubbers just do not have. We do our jobs for pay, but also out of a sense of service and a love for what we do, and the money is second, but don't get me wrong; we deserve our pay and then some.

Every day this week during lunch I have gone down to the state capital and shared information, gained from my union contract training class, thank God for Marie Harder's work, and nailed the republicans with proof positive that they are paying upwards of $575,000 per year and routinely these glad handing insiders, with the help of both appointed and elected county club republicans are bleeding the state's coffers dry. I told the democrats, to call hearing an nail the them of there outrageous waste of taxpayers many, and told them I have not had a raise in four years, I am lock out of my work three Fridays a month, I got a 14.2 % pay cut, and I am now threatened with being paid minimum wage, and that six people defend on my income. I aaked them please, please helop, and call the people who our listed on the documents and ask them questions, and call them to hearing to explain why this has been going on so long unabated. I asked them to pleas do this for the sake of hared working families.

Many republican, were true fiscal conservatives, some staff I knew form my days of being a republican activist.. My goal was to help educate them about the real true wasteful sending, so when the governor whines he cannot afford to pay us our back pay, His administration will have some hard questions to answer about paying $575,000, $400,000, $350,000, and even $127,000 per year of clerical support, two to six time even after you add 50% overhead, to what it would cost to have us do the same work.

There is no reason to allow this to continue, stop the furloughs, fire the fat cat country club republicans sponsored personal services contractors, and save the state billions of dollar in the process. Please step up, stick you neck out, and report waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending, our jobs and the good of our families and the future good for our kids depends on you showing initiative and courage to no longer take it in silence.

PS when I gone into the Capital every day at lunch this wee I wear my Union Coat and shirt proudly, but I make it clear that I am going this on my lunch break and on my own time, and authority. I figure showing our colors proudly sends a signal that a change is in the wind, and the tied is shifting, because it has come to the point that members themselves are feeling the pinch, and we can need to show the initiative to stand up and show our colors, by doing this is shows our union is a member lead union, and a change in the winds of our misfortune are starting to shift in our favor. Please IT dig up the contract information, please other state worker union members stand up and show you colors, so to the capitol and hand them any information you can that show just how much the overpaid country club republican supported personal service contractors are getting paid, work we all know we can do as well or better. The only thing we are not as good at as them is glad handing and acting important, but in terms of knowing and doing our jobs we are as good or better than them any day.

If my memory serves me, when the furloughs first were announced, and Joyce Thomas-Villaronga was still a member, I remember her asking the attorney during the question and answer portion, why Local 1000 was not attacking this based on the labor law that says you have to be paid for time worked. the attorney basically stated she didn't know what she was talking about (not in those exact words, but that was the inference). It seems that is exactly what CCPOA based their lawsuit on, and won. So I guess she was right all along. It is too bad the leadership hated her so much that they wouldn't listen to her expertise or at least research it. Now, supposedly SEIU has been working on a similar lawsuit, but has not filed it yet. I want to know why not. I've heard they have been working on it at least since CCPOA won their lawsuit. What is taking so long? CDCR is the biggest Department and has the highest membership, yet, we're being totally ignored. Wake up Local 1000. This is not acceptable. We work in one of the most egregious environments, have the most problems, and you continue to ignore us. Is it because none of the statewide officers work in that Department? This Union is pathetic. Joyce, if you read this, go back to work for the state and run for statewide office. I'll even ask my President to make a motion to pay the difference in salary for you and keep you on Union leave during the elections. Your the best thing that has happened in the resource center, but we need you back in a leadership position. You are the only one that will speak for the members and not be afraid of these jokers that call themselves officers.

The State of California and CSEA must recuit their "lawyers" from the same pool of those who couldn't make it on the outside. As a longtime ex-steward I was repeatedly flummoxed by the down home dumbness of both. I had no legal training whatsoever and the only thing that intimidated me was that the people making the rulings also came from the same land of long lost dummies.

Local 1000 has mended its ways and told Andy Stern to "go stuff it" with our $17 million. We are putting the $17 million instead towards running a campaign to expose the lies about the so-called budget fiasco to the public for what it is and we are fighting against the furloughs at the worksite !

It is always possible that the $17 million just wouldn't be due since SEIU Int has said it will spend money on CA politics this year.

All monies due to SEIU will be paid. Look at the latest budget. There may be some COPE money kept in CA, but the other $20mil will be paid on time. When the master calls, Local 1000 says "how much"?

Anyone want to see Andy Stern head spin? Elect a new leader who will sever ties to the International and use the $17 million to organize internally within State Service. Just imagine one day, we stop paying the International, really what money would they use against us if we stopped sending it them? Or better yet, take the severance from the International to the rank and file. I would love to see how the International would handle that?

What always happens when someone tells Andy to shove off.. Google NUHW. The morons signed a contract with SEIU INC and unlike our contract you can bet Andy'll send the Purple Shock Troops to get the money, furniture, and any loose children about.

Thne comes the burning of the buldings and the salting of the ground,

I would like to see Andy Stern's head-on-a-stick. Perhaps we could have a "worker's Mt. Rushmore" where we could put all of our heroes heads-on-stix up on a mountaintop. We could all gather once a year, on labor day, to throw tomatoes and rotten eggs at his rotting head and cheer. If we can't have good jobs we could at least have some good fun.

if there was no such thing a international unions, we could change the world, and all would be great, so let us focus on the head of our international union, it does not matter who he is, we hate him for who he is, the head of an international union. Let us revel in our hate for union leaders. Since you are worried about money, yes we are part of a international union, and we do send them money, but Meg Whitman desires to grind us into dust and to shift us like wheat, and she is spending three times as much as you are so worried about, before the primary is even done, and with great guys like you around, she is measuring the drapes, they need a shade of pink.
